Old Mare Trots To Langley Tonight

A performance by Old Mare tonight, Friday April 15th, at the Water Shed Arts Cafe in Langley may not be in Abbotsford but it sure is Abbotsford all the same. Admission to see Old Mare perform is free and it starts sometime after 7pm.

Old Mare front-person Chris Janzen noted with respect to the venue that “The Water Shed Arts Cafe is one those places where they actually care about music, and are willing to risk having local talent in. Ethical Addictions used to be that way, but it is long gone.”

As the foremost alt-country act of Abbotsford, Old Mare has performed from places such as the AirFair Lounge to the 2010 Jam in Jubilee. No longer a solo act, Old Mare is now with new members such as Eran Vooys on drums and Marc Lanchbury on trumpet.

Janzen said “Franklyn Currie who is a legend locally, tends the guitar duty, we’ve been friends for a long time and it just made sense to put our forces together. He also carries bass duties for the Progressive Thinker.”

“Russ O’Shea plays bass. He is also the bass player for Abbotsford’s purveyors of mayhem, First Reign.”

On filling his ranks with more musicians, Janzen said “it feel very satisfying to have a full band on board now with Old Mare. I’d been doing a lot of this material solo for a long time, so when the right pieces feel into place I took a momentary, but excited sigh of relief.”

The Water Shed Cafe is located at 11-20349 88 Ave, Walnutgrove/Langley, BC.  Become a fan of them on facebook by searching their store name today or send them a tweet @watershedcafe.
