About the CCCS

Who: Larry Portelance

Where: Abbotsford, Coast Salish Territory

About: A history major and media/communications minor who likes things not neccessarily about moose, mountains or mounties. I like the cool middle road approach to things one can still enjoy for under ten bucks. It’s always approached by knowing we know nothing until we have a listen!

Listen to the CCCS live on CIVL.ca every Monday at 3 p.m. or download the podcast.

Listen to the CCCS on CKDU Halifax every Monday at 12 a.m. (AKA Sunday at Midnight).

History:

Feb 2009 - Nathan John Moes has me on his program called Pop Music From Around Here. I came in with a pile of CDs from all the east coast indie pop performers I saw live at the Capital Bar in Fredericton, NB. (I worked in NB for three summers in a row at this point!)

Early-March 2009 - I undergo the rigorous CIVL Radio training regime and produce my demo.

March, 9 2009 - The CCCS broadcasts for the first time.

Late-April 2009 - I return to NB for a summer of work but I pre-record the CCCS from CHSR on the UNB/STU Student Union Building.

Late-May 2009 - Nick Scott, former CHSR Programming Director informs me that they have been playing the CCCS on Thurs/Fri. The CCCS is the first ever syndicated CIVL program.

Sept 2009 - The CCCS is pre-recorded at CIVL after I return to my studies at UFV.

Dec 2009 - The CCCS is not longer pre-recorded for CHSR.

Oct 2010 - The CCCS is picked up by 88.1 CKDU in Halifax.

The future? We’ll see but I hope that you enjoy the music!
